Naples and Puglia

This fantastic self drive vacation gives you the independance to explore along with some pre-arranged tours and it starts by arriving in Naples home to pizza Margherita and some of the most stunning coast line in the region of Campania.

Take in the charm of Naples and Capri and then make your way to the splendour of Puglia a region so breath-taking and still maintaining the old tradition and lifestyle, beautiful towns, quaint villages and some of the best beaches in Italy,

Before heading home you will stop off in Matera this town famous for its limestone cave dwellings dating back to Paleolithic times, but Matera has also been the film set for Mel Gibsons Passion of Christ and more recently for the latest James Bond movie this is a great way to end your tour and pit stop before your last night in Naples.

Day 1 – NAPLES
Arrival in Naples airport, collect your car and then drive to your accommodation. Free time and dinner on your own.

Day 2 – ISLAND OF CAPRI
Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at the hotel and transfer to the port of Naples for the ferry to Capri.
(rountrip tranfsers from/to Hotel and ferryboat included in rate)
In fact, this day will be dedicated to the splendid island of the Dolce Vita, famous all over the world.
You will have time to stroll through the characteristic flowery streets, enjoy a coffee in the famous square and go shopping among the prestigious boutiques.
In the afternoon you will have a ferry back to Naples and your driver will take you to the hotel.

Day 3 –NORTH OF PUGLIA
Breakfast in hotel and ready for discover the Northern area of Puglia (also called Gargano).
We suggest starting from Vieste and continuing along the south coast of the Gargano. You will see the Scialara promenade and then you will head there, where the sea caves of the city of Vieste are located.The rock of Porto Nuovo will be the first natural monument that you will have to observe and then proceed to admire myriads of enchanting caves and bays. Continue to the assigned hotel. In the afternoon we suggest to visit the city of Trani “The Pearl of the Adriatic”. Trani is known especially for the presence of the beautiful Cathedral by the sea in Puglian Romanesque style. The Mother Church, dressed in white, has four different sections.A beautiful walk through the ancient Jewish quarter will reveal the multicultural component of the city that still conserves an antique synagogue of the XII century. It will be pleasant get lost amongst ancient arcades and freshly caught seafood stalls.

DAY 4 - SOUTH PUGLIA
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the Salento area (South of Puglia). This magnificent Puglian land, surrounded by both the Ionian and the Adriatic, will make you live a summer dedicated to tradition, but it will also be the ideal destination for those looking for relaxation in wild bays or golden beaches reminiscent of the Maldives. Salento is also and above all the sea: Torre dell'Orso, Porto Badisco and Castro marina are some of the most beautiful inlets where you will find yourself swimming, discovering a rich and unspoiled nature. Arrival at the assigned hotel.
Overnight in South of Puglia.


Day 5 - SOUTH PUGLIA
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will test your senses with an interesting Tasting of oil, wine and typical Puglian products (included in the rate)
The tasting includes a sensorial and tasting analysis of the 5 types of different oils, selections of only one variety of olive of the Puglian territory, PGI and D.O.P. Terra d'Otranto. Plus a selection of blend of oils, light and intense. In addition, you will taste the various typical products, such as olives, creams and tarallini, or the 4 types of wines. In the afternoon we suggest you to visit the city of Lecce, made famous by its splendid baroque buildings, which have earned it the name of "Baroque Florence". Lecce has an extensive history and has been inhabited since the times of Emperor Hadrian and the Roman Empire.
Lecce is renowned for its beautiful historical structures such as the Basilica di Santa Croce, the Porta Napoli and the Duomo. Furthermore, Lecce has a favourable location and is within a stone’s throw of some charming and interesting coastal destinations such as Gallipoli.

Day 6 – CENTRAL PUGLIA
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the central area of Puglia, also called Valle d'Itria.
Valle d'Itria is a concentrate of the most typical and authentic Puglia. That of the expanses of olive trees as far as the eye can see, the white towns, the farms transformed into charming relais and trulli. Accomodation in the assigned hotel or masseria.
Take a break in Alberobello, the fairytale “Capital of the Trulli”, to walk in the area included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list (possibility to buy guided walking tour with extra cost)
Departure to Locorotondo and walk in the white village, included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy and awarded the "bandiera arancione".
Its ancient heart is a truly unique place capable of exercising extraordinary suggestions and charm. This is thanks to the white huts, the cobbled streets, the elegant portals and the flowered balconies. But also of small houses with a regular geometric shape and a pitched roof which, together with the trulli, are typical of the town: they are the so-called "cummerse" which stand out whitewashed in the entire historic center.

Day 7 – CENTRAL PUGLIA
Breakfast in hotel and departure to Ostuni, the "White Town" with its original Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. In this fascinating city you will have booked tour of the historical center of ostuni by tuk tuk.
It’s a guided tour of the medieval village, with stops and explanation of the various monuments. The Ape Calessino, thanks to its small size, can access every corner of the historic center ... Stages and Monuments visible on the Tour: Liberty Square; Statue of Sant'Oronzo; Old Town; Museum of pre-classical civilizations; Cathedral; Door to San Demetrio; Viale Oronzo Quaranta; Church of the Stella; Porta Nova; Pover's bridge; Most famous alleys. Continuation to Martina Franca, a fourteenth-century town located in the middle of the Itria Valley and which falls within the municipal area of the Bosco delle Pianelle. Frequented since the Neolithic, it was founded by the Prince of Taranto Philip I of Anjou. The city is known for its Baroque architecture and for the Valle d'Itria music festival.

Day 8 – MATERA – NAPLES
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Matera, although it is not part of the Puglia region, it is worth visiting before reaching the assigned destination. We remind you that the masterpiece of world cinema, the film by Mel Gibson "The Passion of Christ", was shot in Matera. In fact Matera is one of the oldest cities in the world whose territory preserves evidence of human settlements starting from the Paleolithic and uninterruptedly up to the present day. It is the city of the Sassi, and was initially proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 and nominated for European Capital of Culture 2019, impossible to miss!
We suggest a characteristic tour in Ape calessino (with extra payment) that will make you admire the most suggestive areas.
Continuation to Naples and accommodation in the assigned hotel.
