There are two options to this deal 

Option A - Rome & Sicily from $999

Arrive in Rome spend 2 nights in a 4 Star centrally located hotel and explore the city, then take your flight from Rome to Catania on arrival in Catania collect your car rental and follow your 7 night self-drive tour (itinerary below) at the end of your tour drop the car back at Catania for your flight to Rome spend 1 night in Italy's capital city before heading homeward bound.

Option B - 7 night Wonders of Sicily Self Drive Tour from $1099

Arrive in Catania collect your car rental and follow your 07 night self-drive tour discovering many wonderful sites along the way, at the end of your stay return the car to Catania and board your flight home.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Catania – Ragusa or surroundings.

Arrival at Catania Airport collect your rental car and begin your adventure. The first stop will be the Sicilian Baroque, the Ragusa/Modica area. Ragusa is located in the heart of the Val di Noto, in the south east of Sicily and is the capital of the southern most province of Italy. It is immersed in an area rich in natural architectural beauties to visit. Baroque architecture, which stands out for its flair and for the wealth of decorative elements on vaults, coloumns, capitals and facades, is the most widespread artistic style in the Ragusa area. The historical and artistic importance of the city has meant that in 2002 it became part of the Unesco heritage sites. We suggest you visit Punta Secca Beach, in the seaside resort of the same name, famous for shooting the TV series “Commissario Montalbano” by Andrea Camillieri.

Day 2 – Ragusa/Modica/Syracuse

Breakfast in the hotel, today you will explore the beauties of Sicilian Baroque, we include a moment of sweetness in one of the most famous chocolate shops in Modica, Traditional production of the city is the famous chocolate, produced following an ancient Aztec recipe, from which derives the Modican recipe that dates back to 1746, when Sicily still depended on the King of Spain (chocolate tasting included). In the afternoon you can enjoy the beauties of the island of Ortigia, enjoying a traditional glass of almond milk in the shadow of the cathedral of Syracuse, in its magnificent square.

Day 3 – Ragusa-Catagirone-Agrigento

Breakfast in the hotel. Make your way to Agrigento, famous for the “Valley of the temples” before arriving in Agrigento we suggest a stop in Caltagirone, a baroque city famous for its ceramics. We suggest you take the famous La Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte which connects the new part of the city to the historic centre.

Today you visit the Valley of the Temples (ticket included. This enchanting valley shorouded in the fascinating atmosphere of the Greek myth was declared a World Heritage site by Unesco in 1997 and is also recognized as one of the major sites of archaeological interest in the entire Mediterranean.

Day 4 – Agrigento-Palermo and surrounding

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart and make your way to Palermo. Along the way it is possible to have a light lunch with traditional products in a traditional cellar (optional cost light lunch Sambuca di Sicilia). Palermo was a Phoenician, Greek and Roman city, the Arab capital, a land of conquest for the Normans, Swabians, French and Spanish. Centuries of history and domination have marked the Sicilian Capital, a city of a thousand faces, a crossroads of people, an amalgam of different cultures and traditions, beautiful and immense. Palermo proudly displays the evidence of its glorious past which lives on in the grandeur of its artistic and architectural heritage. In the “city of delights “ Arab domes, baroque churches, Art Nouveau buildings, neoclassical theatres, eighteenth-century green  spaces teeming historical markets similar to Arab souks coexist in harmony.

Day 5 – Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel and ready for a new destination. Today we suggest you visit the seaside village of Cefalu, a small pearl located directly on the sea approx. 1 hour drive from Palermo. Cefalu is names among the most beautiful villages in Italy and offers guests a very suggestive landscape and atmosphere. You will find an array of restaurant and shops among the narrow medieval streets of its ancient centre. In the afternoon return to Palermo where you can continue to discover this wonderful city full of history and beauty. (optional dinner in Palermo at additional cost)

Day 6 -Palermo- Taormina-Catania and surrounding.

Breakfast at the hotel then depart to make your way to Taormina. Thanks to its enchanting position on the sea, the scenic beauty, the vast historical, culture and archaeological heritage with which it is rich, Taormina is one of the famous tourists resorts on the island. A place of great charm and beauty, the splendid Sicilian town has seduced poets and writers, attracted illustrious travelers, welcomed internationally renowned celebrities. Visitors arriving from all over the world in this “piece of paradise on earth”(Goethe, Journey to Italy 1787) to see its Greco-Roman theatre, to stroll along its medieval streets, to admire breath taking views, to enjoy its excellent gastronomy , to relax in the sun on wonderful beaches, continue to Catania or surrounding.

Optional add-on Minicruise to Aeolian Island or Arancino Cooking Lesson at an extra cost.

*as an alternative to Taormina you can choose the optional mini cruise to Aeolian Islands at an additional cost, to do this you can leave the car at the port of Milazzo midway between Palermo & Taormina,

Overnight Hotel in Catania area or surrounding.

Day 7- Etna Volcano – Catania or surrounding

Breakfast at the hotel before you depart for Mount Etna.

Etna with its lunar landscape attracts tourist all year round during the winter months it is a well-equipped ski destination. Fire and snow, these are the elements that create an evocative, almost magical atmosphere. Whilst here you will visit an organic production company where you will delight your palate with the tasting of wines, oils, honey and other local produce (wine tasting included)

You will have the opportunity to add a traditional lunch at an extra cost.

In the afternoon we suggest visiting the historical center of Catania which in 2002 and was named a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Day 8 -Catania

Breakfast at hotel then make your way to Catania Airport for your flight home or onward to Rome.
